“With the number of EVs on our roads set to double in 2026, from here on the main limit to EV growth will be the lack of charging infrastructure” said Electrify Bouddi’s Deborah Cotter at the launch of the new EV Charger at the Empire Bay Tavern on 15th May.
She went on to explain how Electrify Bouddi had approached the NRMA and the Tavern more than a year ago and how both of these organisations embraced this opportunity with enthusiasm.
“This is the first charger the NRMA has fully funded itself” noted Ian Cosgrove, Acting Chief Operating Officer, NRMA “but we hope it is the first of many throughout the Central Coast.”
The role of Electrify Bouddi in accelerating the clean energy transition benefits to local residents, visitors and businesses was celebrated by our local representatives Dr Gordon Reid, Liesl Tesch and Adam Crouch.
Liesl was pleased to note, this EV charger is fully accessible for people in wheelchairs.
In thanking all involved in this project, Deborah Cotter expressed the hope that this is just the start. “In time we hope the NRMA will see the opportunity to increase the number and charging speed of this facility. We would also like to see the Central Coast Council take the next step, as other LGAs have, to develop a roadmap for the EV chargers throughout the region, identifying opportunities and partners so that the Central Coast is ahead of the game in this transition.”
