Grant funding proposals

Electrify Bouddi periodically applies to grant-making bodies for financial support for special projects that are beyond the scope of our current budget and are consistent with our 3-year Strategy.  Often these are targeted at specific grants available from the Central Coast Council or NSW and Federal Governments.

To be sufficiently prepared to meet deadlines, we have developed detailed proposals for the following projects so that they can be ready to go.  Applications are approved by the Steering Committee and prepared by the Finance & Fundraising team. Further projects will be added over time.

If you wish to be involved in fundraising or know more about any of these projects, please email info@electrifybouddi.org

NSW Government Community Energy Activation Program, 2026-2029

Electrify Bouddi has applied for funding to undertake five projects over three years:

  1. Stimulate the establishment of community-led energy initiatives similar to Electrify Bouddi throughout the Central Coast.
  2. Establish partnerships with high quality local installers/products relating to electrification and energy efficiency throughout the Central Coast.
  3. Encourage sustainable energy holiday homes
  4. Develop a Home Energy Roadmap Kit to assist households to decide which individual energy improvements match their building, budget, and priorities.
  5. Organise an annual energy trade fair for the Central Coast to connect service providers and householders.

Healthy & Climate Resilient Homes

This project will deliver practical, targeted support to residents of Killcare, Killcare Heights, Hardys Bay, Pretty Beach, and Wagstaffe who are experiencing energy poverty and associated health impacts.

Electrify Bouddi will train local volunteers to provide in-person, tailored energy advice to vulnerable households. This type of community-based engagement has been shown to be highly effective in supporting individuals who struggle to navigate energy retailers, access rebates or grants, or achieve comfortable living conditions within limited budgets.

In collaboration with trusted Bouddi peninsula welfare organisations, including Killy Cares, the Community Church, we will ensure the service reaches those most in need, particularly the 31% of residents living with at least one long-term health condition.

This initiative will not only reduce household energy bills, but also promote better health outcomes, improved energy efficiency, and climate-conscious behaviour change, while strengthening social connections and resilience through volunteer engagement.

Climate Resilience in Vulnerable Householders

Around one in four Australian households live in energy poverty—unable to afford adequate heating, cooling, or cooking. These households often live in poorly insulated homes, face higher energy costs, and are the least able to afford energy-saving upgrades. With rising energy costs as Australia navigates the transition to a more sustainable energy system and a changing climate, we are aware that vulnerable householders in our community are being left behind.

To address this, Electrify Bouddi is launching a project to provide targeted energy efficiency upgrades to 20 local energy poor households.  Each participating household will receive:

  • A free energy audit and bill analysis
  • Recommendations for improvements
  • Access to subsidised upgrades such as insulation, reverse-cycle air conditioning, or electric cooking

Electrify Bouddi will manage installation using trusted local professionals. Householders will contribute around 50% of the cost.

This project aims to lower energy bills and improve comfort during extreme weather—supporting both social equity and climate resilience.

Energy Resilience in non-residential facilities

Electrify Bouddi aims to boost local resilience by improving the energy security of key community services during short-term power outages.

We will establish an investment fund to upgrade important non-residential buildings that provide services to our community with solar, batteries, and energy efficiency measures. These upgrades will help ensure continuity of service during grid disruptions.

Each project will be guided by a tailored energy audit, and managed by trusted service providers. We’re exploring partnerships with experienced service providers and administrators and may operate the fund under a co-operative model for transparency and accountability.

This initiative strengthens Bouddi’s climate resilience, building local capacity while keeping services running when they’re needed most.

Bouddi Energy Resilience Investment Fund

Electrify Bouddi wishes to establish an investment fund to support local upgrades  to buildings where traditional sources of finance are important non-residential buildings that provide services to our community with solar, batteries, and energy efficiency measures. These upgrades will help ensure continuity of service during grid disruptions.

The fund will combine grants, donations, and community-sourced investment, with building owners repaying the cost over 3–5 years from their energy savings. As repayments replenish the fund, future projects can be financed and community investors may receive a modest return.
